The IT landscape of companies is currently faced with many trials. For example, increasing digitalisation. Global political and economic instability also plays a major role. Flexible and modern software solutions are the key to meeting all these challenges and to building future-proof corporate IT that can react agilely and flexibly to attacks by criminals and changing regulations or processes.

Low-code platforms help: Companies share their experiences

Our study “Shaping the Digital Transformation with Low-Code Platforms” (in English) examines the demands placed on modern IT and how the key low-code technology can help. For the study, we spoke to employees in more than 700 companies from various industries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The study thus provides a good overview of the importance of low code internationally. Around two-thirds of respondents said low-code platforms significantly increase the process and development speed within the company.

Platforms can be customised

Low-code platforms offer elements for applications that can be individually customised and assembled based on a building-block concept. This enables applications to be efficiently developed and continuously improved. The platforms allow professional developers, as well as users without specific programming knowledge, to create and adapt programs of varying complexity.

The topic is considered too complex in many companies

The use of low-code platforms is still treated with much scepticism in many of the companies surveyed. However, the challenges are assessed differently. Those who do not work in IT find the topic too complex. IT employees, on the other hand, say that the most common barrier to adopting low-code platforms is the lack of acceptance at the management level.

Users of low-code platforms report significant cost reductions

A look at the benefits of low-code platforms is helpful here because the survey clearly shows: Those who use low code gain added value from it. For example, 53 percent say that low code helped the company reduce overall and operating costs. And 55 percent confirm that low-code platforms have helped them reduce or better manage backlogs in corporate IT.

In our study, you’ll find out where companies around the world stand with regard to developing low-code platforms and what their future plans look like in this area. We also highlight key success factors when integrating low-code platforms.
