Syed Najmul Hussain

Hussain has been affiliated with KPMG Taseer Hadi & Co., since 1984, with over 34 years post qualification experience in Audit, Assurance and Advisory Services. 

Served two terms of four years as elected member of the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP).  

Served two terms as member of Accounting Standards Board (ASB) and as Chairman of Islamic Finance Committee of ICAP from 2013-2021.

Served as member of Shariah Advisory Committee of the State Bank of Pakistan.

Currently serving as a Deputy Chairman of Accounting Board of Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI). 

Currently serving as Member of Committee on Adoption of Islamic Accounting Standards established by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan.

Served as Technical Advisor on the Board of International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) for four years.

Hussain has led numerous advisory and assurance projects internationally and locally, for clients active in sectors such as manufacturing, MNCs, commercial banks, micro-finance institutions, mutual funds, brokerage houses, Islamic banks, power and utility companies, regulatory bodies, etc. He also has experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams, working alongside non-financial professionals, in order to deliver technical and tailored services.

He has consulted and advised clients on their financial risk management, corporate investigations, accounting system design, design and implementation of business processes and control systems, strategic business studies, quality assessments, etc.

The in-depth knowledge and multi-disciplinary experience he has gained from his association with the numerous clients about the operations of the companies and the nature of transactions being undertaken coupled with his experience of design and development of operating systems provides him with a strong blend to achieve high standards of quality consultancy and advisory services to KPMG’s clientele.
