Amir Jamil Abbasi

Amir is Senior Partner at KPMG in Pakistan and a member of KPMG Pakistan Board responsible for setting overall policies and strategies of the firm.

He is member of MESA Board and Chairman of MESA Audit Steering Committee. Since 2009 he is also serving as a member of KPMG International Standards on Auditing (ISA) Panel. 

He represents KPMG in Pakistan on KPMG EMA and KPMG MESA regional and sub-regional initiatives and ensures implementation of decisions at regional and sub-regional levels.

Prior to his appointment, Amir has held positions of Location Head and Head of Audit at KPMG in Pakistan, Head of Audit and Regional Quality Performance Liaison Partner for MESA region. He also held the position of Chief Operating Officer of MESA Region for almost 3 years and he was based in UAE for this position.

As a senior partner he is responsible to ensure regular co-ordination takes place with other professional firms on all emerging issues to achieve consistency in approach and application including representations / discussions with ICAP / SECP / SBP and others. He has been member of Quality Assurance Board of Pakistan working under ICAP for more than 5 years and involved in Quality control initiatives at ICAP since early 2000.

Since taking over as a Senior Partner, he has spearheaded implementation of various KPMG’s initiatives such as KPMG Clara, ISQM1, DPP, 2nd line of defense, etc.

He is also involved with various not for profit organizations and is currently the President of Management Association of Pakistan (MAP) which has significant number of high profile multinational and local companies as its members. The association focuses on professionalism in management principles and best management practices.

Outside of work Amir is kept busy with his family and enjoys playing cricket and golf.
