KFC is collaborating with 3D Bioprinting solutions, a biotech research laboratory in Moscow, to develop ‘hybrid’ chicken nuggets available in the Russian market. The ‘biomeat’ will be made from a combination of chicken cells and plant-based ingredients and the project hopes to have developed a final cultured-meat nugget product for testing by the end of 2020. No country has yet approved cultured meat for consumption, however 3D Bioprinting Solutions co-founder Yusef Khesuani believes Russia’s regulatory process will be quicker than most.
