The fourth highest food waster in the world per capita is Australia, and Rabobank Australia is calling to action the government, industry stakeholders and consumers to help reduce this. The total annual spend on food waste increased from AUD$8.9 billion (approx. NZD$9.2 billion) in 2018 to AUD$10.1 billion (approx. NZD$10.5 billion) in 2019. 34 percent of the waste is produced by households whilst 31 percent is from primary production and 25 percent from manufacturing.
