Nigerian CFOs Less Optimistic on 2019 Economic Outlook
About 120 CFOs recently attended the annual KPMG Nigeria CFO Forum organised by KPMG Professional Services, one of the biggest Professional Services Firms, to launch its CFO Report titled: ‘The Nigerian Economic Outlook for 2019’.
The Forum took place at Lagos Continental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, with Principal Consultant for Kainos Edge Consulting Limited, Dr. Doyin Salami as the keynote speaker.
The event kicked-off with a networking session during breakfast and then formally introduced and moderated by Oluyomi Akinyemi, Associate Director, Advisory Services, KPMG in Nigeria. Segun Sowande, Partner and Head, Management Consulting, KPMG in Nigeria, presented the details of the survey report to the audience. In his statement, Segun mentioned that: “a majority consensus of opinion among CFOs indicate the that Government’s ‘ease of doing business’ policy is in the right direction, however, overall implementation needs significant improvement.”
Tola Adeyemi, Partner and Head, Audit Services, KPMG in Nigeria, launched the CFO survey report at the forum, alongside Victor Onyenkpa, the Firm’s Partner and COO, and several reputable CFOs, some of whom were panel discussants who spoke from the perspective of the sectors they represented, such as Patrick Iyamabo of Firstbank PLC, Stella Ojekwe-Onyejeli of NSIA, Adesola Sotande-Peters of Unilever, and Mukhtar Adam of Zenith Bank PLC.
One of the Firm’s Risk Consulting Partner, Tolu Odukale managed the Q&A session which successfully harmonised the questions and comments from the general audience with the responses from the keynote speaker and panel discussants. The closing remarks were delivered by Toyin Gbagi, Partner, Audit Services, KPMG in Nigeria. The CFOs received some relevant printed KPMG reports as they expressed their interests in future sessions, networked and shared lessons with one another.
