Highlights: Federal Government of Nigeria Budget proposal for 2025 fiscal year
His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu, GCFR, has presented the 2025 Federal Government Budget Proposal at the joint session of the National Assembly in Abuja. The proposed Revenue and Expenditure budgets for 2025 are ₦36.35 trillion and ₦49.74 trillion, respectively, resulting in a ₦13.39 trillion fiscal deficit.
Commentary
The 2025 Budget, titled "Budget of Restoration: Securing Peace, Rebuilding Prosperity," according to the President, is central to the Renewed Hope Agenda. It is aimed to strengthen key policies designed to restructure the economy, enhance human capital development, increase trade and investment, boost oil and gas production, and ultimately improve Nigeria's economic competitiveness.
This budget is expected to set the stage for lasting peace, prosperity, and renewed hope, envisioning a Nigeria where every citizen has the opportunity to dream, work, and thrive in safety. It seeks to rebuild trust in governance, address systemic challenges, and possibly create a foundation for inclusive growth and sustainable development.
