The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has extended the deadline for filing individual annual tax returns (“the Returns”) to Wednesday, 14 April 2021. This is in response to taxpayers’ appeals and as a measure to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on taxpayers and residents of Lagos State. Taxpayers experiencing difficulties with the e-filing platforms are advised by the LIRS to contact the designated LIRS officers and customer care representatives on 0700 CALL LIRS (0700-2255-5477).

This is a commendable initiative by the LIRS. It is in the interest of affected taxpayers to take advantage of the relief measures and file their returns by 14 April 2021 to avoid penalty for default.
