Tomi Adepoju

Tomi is the Partner & Head, Enterprise Risk and ESG Services at KPMG in Nigeria. She also provides oversight on ESG and the Board Governance Centre. She is a highly skilled executive and has accumulated over 25 years of professional business advisory experience, delivering quality services to national and multinational businesses on various assignments across key industries.

Tomi has substantial experience in the establishment, review and transformation of internal audit function, enterprise risk management function, compliance management, ESG and internal control system. She also leads the outsourced internal audit functions of various companies, listed and unlisted. She has assisted a number of organisations in establishing their compliance function including automating their regulatory rule book. 

Tomi also heads the KPMG Board Governance Centre in Nigeria which is an initiative proffering high value solutions to corporate governance challenges. Tomi has a wide range of experience in the design and evaluation of corporate governance frameworks/processes, evaluation of boards of directors and facilitation of the assessment of individual directors. She has facilitated several corporate governance training courses and board governance retreats for several clients. Tomi was a member of the Technical Committee set up by the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) of Nigeria to review and redesign the Nigerian Code of Corporate Governance issued in 2018. In this regard, she also played a pivotal role in leading the KPMG team that provided technical secretariat assistance to the Committee. Tomi was also a member of the KPMG project management team that provided capacity support to the committee set up by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Nigeria, to review and redesign the SEC Code of Corporate Governance issued in 2010.

Tomi also has KPMG International accreditation for enterprise and operational risk management, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Nigeria and a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors.  Tomi has a Board Readiness Certificate from the IE Business School, Spain and a Certification in GRI (G4) Sustainability Reporting Process.

Tomi has facilitated several retreats and training courses for boards of directors and senior management of several organisations, including Institute of Directors Nigeria, Society for Corporate Governance Nigeria, and the Financial Institution Training Centre (FITC), Nigeria.
