Malaysia continues to face challenges from tax non-compliance and the shadow economy, which constrain public finances and distort competition. 

On air, Dr Veerinderjeet Singh, Senior Advisor on Tax Policy at KPMG in Malaysia, highlighted that e-invoicing, technology-driven oversight, and robust enforcement are essential tools to address these issues. He also emphasized the importance of sustained implementation and enforcement in order to gradually reducing the shadow economy and strengthening Malaysia’s fiscal health.
