Mohd Khaidzir bin Shahari, Head of Risk Consulting Advisory at KPMG in Malaysia, highlighted the governance landscape in Malaysia and the expanding role of internal audit, including cybersecurity and ESG integration. As the role of auditors shift from compliance enforcers to value creators, he emphasized that internal auditors are expected to engage in strategic discussions, ensure regulatory compliance and take a proactive approach to governance and risk management.
