With new taxes come shared responsibilities

In this commentary piece, Soh Lian Seng, Head of Tax at KPMG in Malaysia, shared his thoughts on the implementation of new tax policies and their impacts on local businesses, particularly the low-value goods tax, capital gains tax, service tax, high-value goods tax, e-Invoicing and global minimum tax. He opined that while the tax changes are part of the government’s aspirations to foster inclusive and sustainable economic growth, the true success of their implementation would require collaboration between taxpayers, tax administrators and tax professionals.
