The invisible cost of SST

Ng Sue Lynn, Head of Indirect Tax, gave her comments on the impact of the sales and services tax (SST) on manufacturers and the supply chain, which can be challenging for businesses. She opined that incorporating reliefs such as input tax credits for businesses could help combat price increases along the supply chain.
As for the proposed harmonized sales and service tax (HSST) as an alternative to the goods and services tax (GST), she shared that the proposed HSST may be well-intentioned. However, taxation policies should be viewed in the long run instead of as short-term measures.
