KPMG: Government surprises with SST rate hike, no immediate plans to reintroduce GST

Neoh Beng Guan, Executive Director of Corporate Tax Advisory at KPMG in Malaysia, commented on the tax measures that were announced in the tabled Budget 2024. While most of the tax measures were expected, he underlined that the sales and service tax (SST) hike was an unanticipated move from the government.
