The government has not re-introduced GST in this year’s budget. Instead they have introduced the ‘cukai makmur’ or ‘prosperity tax’.
According to Ng Wei Wei, Executive Director, KPMG Tax Services, the government did not re-introduce GST to avoid affecting economic recovery and increasing the burden on the rakyat.
“Overall, this is a budget that can benefit the rakyat. ” She added.
