Tai Lai Kok, KPMG Head of Tax in Malaysia, was interviewed on the return of the Sales and Services Tax (SST). He shared the implementation of the SST must not be delayed for too long to ensure that the country will continue to generate revenue. Tai also suggested that the SST to be given a standardized rate. “On the balance of it, it makes more sense to standardize it because it eliminates a lot of confusion and administration. I believe that there are a lot of revenues that have been lost as a result of wrong classification, whether intentionally or otherwise,” he said.
