KPMG is pleased to collaborate with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) to organize the MyFintechWeek 2022 Sustainability Challenge Accelerator.
This Challenge aims to unearth and nurture fintech solutions for sustainable development within Malaysia’s financial sector and the broader economy. Key focus areas will involve green fintech and sustainable-based solutions.
Announcing the winners of the first-ever KPMG Sustainability Challenge:
The accelerator kicked off with a flurry of applications, and finally 12 applicant startups with promising solutions were chosen to join the accelerator programme.
After 3 months under the mentoring workshops under the wing of KPMG’s Fintech team as well as the excellent pitchIN team, the 12 teams pitched their solutions in early January to a panel of industry experts from the financial and sustainability sectors.
What does the Challenge involve?
Competition was close and the judges selected 4 teams to go through to the grand finals: OpenGreenFund, Project Lestari, RAYA and MADCash. These teams, under the guidance of their mentors, worked hard to refine their pitch deck across the month of January in preparation to pitch at the grand finals! As mentioned above, the results of the grand finals were MADCash, Project Lestari, OpenGreenFund and RAYA in that order.
The accelerator kicked off with a keynote speech from Mr. Anton Ruddenklau, Global Co-Leader of Fintech for KPMG International, and Ms. Luanne Sieh, Senior Managing Director and Head of Sustainability at CIMB, who discussed the rise of fintech and their place in the growing global sustainability movement.
