Enhance compliance through Malaysia’s Tax Corporate Governance Program

In today’s complex and evolving business landscape, organizations are under heightened scrutiny from both the public and tax authorities regarding their tax practices. The focus has shifted from a mere compliance to ensuring that businesses contribute their "fair share" of taxes. As such, integrating tax governance into an organization’s corporate governance framework is crucial for demonstrating accountability and managing tax risks effectively.

To enhance tax compliance, the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) of Malaysia launched the Tax Corporate Governance (TCG) program on 1 March 2022. Initially introduced through a pilot program starting in June 2022, which involved 11 companies, the program advanced to Phase 2 in July 2024. The program is now open to qualified companies, offering them a valuable opportunity to participate in the IRB’s “Cooperative Compliance” initiative – a collaborative effort between the IRB and taxpayers.

Join our upcoming webinar with Dr. Veerinderjeet Singh and Bob Kee as they discuss the details and benefits of the TCG program. You’ll gain insights into how the program impacts your business and explore practical steps to enhance your organization’s tax governance and compliance.
