Mobilization of Talents to Malaysia - Tax and Immigration Perspective

For global companies which move talents across borders, whether on short-term or long-term assignments, tax and immigration issues will continue to exist as crucial issues that need to be addressed. It is therefore critical for companies to take a step back and examine the activities of this workforce to ensure whether there is any undesirable exposure at either the employee or corporate level, moreover when incorporating the remote working arrangement as a norm.

Non-compliance to tax and immigration laws can lead to financial hardship for companies in view of severe fines, penalties and administration costs, in addition to undue stress to the talents. Further, there may be an exposure on the overseas company of having a permanent establishment (PE) in Malaysia.

This webinar will cover the general immigration and taxation implications followed by a sharing session on common issues encountered by the Company in relation to remote working arrangement.
