Irene started her career in the plantation division of a major company in KLSE. She subsequently joined the hospitality industry, followed by the retail industry prior to joining KPMG, attached to the Accounting Advisory unit. She has in-depth experience in setting up accounting and payroll systems. She was also extensively involved in implementing and reviewing of internal controls, policies & procedures, and business process re-engineering.

In KPMG, she began her career in Outsourcing service line, managing bookkeeping and payroll outsourcing engagements for large-scale organisations and multi-national companies. She was also seconded to various companies or organisations assuming different roles and responsibilities such as Head of Accounts Payable for a global shared service centre, Group Accountant managing month end close and group reporting, Task Force lead responsible for system migration, account reconciliations, process improvement, SOP development and etc.    

Currently she is in charge of accounting related advisory such as MFRS/IFRS framework conversion eg. MFRS/IFRS 16 and 17 accounting change, financial reporting, account reconciliations, accounting policy development etc. She has also extensive responsibility in supporting insurance clients in implementing MFRS/IFRS 17 solution in line with regulatory and accounting standard change requirements.
