KPMG in Malaysia

He started his career in the Assurance practice of KPMG in Malaysia in 1983. During this time, he was involved in the statutory audit engagements of both local private and multinational publicly listed companies. He was also involved in carrying out special engagements that included profit forecast, share valuation exercise, investigation on co-operatives (working together with Bank Negara Malaysia), receivership and liquidation of a large group of retailers in Malaysia.

In 2000, Albert re-joined the firm in the Deal Advisory practice and was primarily involved in transaction advisory and deal origination engagements for corporate and financial investors in both local and cross border M&A transactions.  He has also worked with clients on sustainability advisory engagements for companies listed on the local stock exchange.

Albert currently acts as the Data Privacy Lead for KPMG in Malaysia where he leads the team in executing data privacy engagements. He also takes on the role as the Privacy Liaison Officer for KPMG in Malaysia and in this capacity, serves as a primacy contact and focal point on data privacy related matters in the firm – on policy implementation, privacy training and awareness, privacy impact assessments, and managing compliance with applicable privacy laws and regulations.

Professional and Industry Experience

Albert has worked in areas of management accounting and corporate finance, managing M&A transactions, fund raising and various other corporate exercises. And in the years prior to rejoining KPMG, he has held key management positions in Bursa Malaysia Main Board listed companies. Collectively through this and his professional career with KPMG, Albert has garnered experience in a diverse range of industries that include banking and financial services, consumer products and industrial markets, energy & natural resources, healthcare, education and logistics.
