Nasri is an Executive Director of KPMG Management and Risk Consulting and appointed as the Head of Banking for KPMG in Malaysia. He draws on more than 25 years of experience in financial services focusing on financial institutions in London and Malaysia. With a background in accounting and audit, Nasri regularly conducts in-house and external courses on financial instruments accounting.
In the financial reporting space, Nasri is extensively involved in engagements related to MFRS 9 (Financial Instruments), MFRS 16 (Leasing) and MFRS 17 (Insurance) conversion projects. He was also involved in various client engagements involving first-time adoption of the Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (FRSs) and performing gap analysis and validation exercises on the adoption of FRS 139.
Nasri is also the Head of Financial Management and Head of Accounting Advisory Services practices in the Advisory arm of KPMG in Malaysia. He was directly involved in the development of MBRS/XBRL taxonomies on behalf of a consortium advising Companies Commission of Malaysia/Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM) on the MBRS/XBRL project. Subsequently, SSM appointed KPMG to assist in the development of training materials and provision of trainings to the public as part of the initial deployment of MBRS. Nasri is featured as a trainer in SSM’s MBRS training flyers.
