Maria Attard Filletti

Maria assists clients with their book keeping as well as with the compilation of periodic management accounts and statutory annual reports. Over the years, she has been entrusted with a vast portfolio of both local and international clients encompassing sectors such as financial services, gaming, shipping, property investment, professional services, pharmaceuticals and holding companies. She is proficient in applying both the local default accounting framework GAPSME as well as IFRSs as adopted by the EU. Maria has recently been focusing on group consolidations, which are required for statutory purposes or following the group's decision to form a fiscal unit for tax purposes. At times, she has also assisted clients with the restatement of financial statements from foreign GAAP to GAPSME or IFRS, as the case may be, either as a result of redomiciliation to Malta or for consolidation purposes.

Maria is keen to expand her knowledge on both tehnical and professional aspects and openly welcomes new challenges. In fact, she has been seconded locally twice. For a period of approximately three months, she has been seconded to a Maltese pension administration company, during which time she helped the client compile a database of investment funds available in their portfolio. On another occasion, she has been seconded to a protected cell insurance company for a little over a month in order to assist with the due diligence process as part of the company’s exercise to inject new capital.

Over the years, she has worked on different types of accounting software, always seeking to use that which best suits the client. She helped clients to implement and ease into new accounting systems whilst making sure that the transition process runs as smoothly as possible.

Apart from accounting related support services, Maria also offers advice on VAT related issues and assists clients with their VAT compliance obligations. She has since completed the Diploma in VAT Compliance offered by the Institute of Indirect Taxation U.K..

Occasionally, Maria delivers technical training on VAT and accounting matters, both within KPMG and externally, to clients and with other learning institutions.
