Role & Responsibilities
- Assist the direct manager in legal compliance projects by carrying out legal research and analysis;
- Conduct research on complex legal issues based on the principles of legal technique and draft legal opinions;
- Drafting various types of opinions and reports on the legal assessment of the client's situation or proposed activity, the legal adequacy of the client's activities or processes, potential risks and their prevention/mitigation mechanisms;
- Support colleagues in providing legal support to clients in relation to the development of renewable energy (solar, wind) projects, including from the point of view of property law and the regulation of the construction process;
- Participate in various projects in the public sector, providing legal expertise in the field of public administration and management of public corporations;
- Specialise in one or more legal compliance issues
- Work with and learn from experienced colleagues and cooperate with colleagues from the KPMG Global network
- Keep up to date with the latest developments and trends in the regulation of your specialty.
Can you say YES to this?
Education and experience
- You have a degree in Law
- You have at least 2 years of experience in legal compliance (e.g. personal data protection, competition law, AML/sanctions, consumer law, corporate compliance, etc.)
- Experience in the energy or construction sector will be considered an advantage
Technical skills
- You possess a good understanding of one of the sub-areas of legal compliance
- Interest and knowledge in Legal Tech will be considered an advantage
- You have a good command of MS tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- You are fluent in Latvian and English, both written and spoken
Personal traits
- You have analytical and logical reasoning skills, and have mastered research techniques
- You have strong communication and negotiation skills
- You are a responsible, self-motivated and pro-active person who demonstrates eagerness to learn and grow
- You can work both in a team and independently.
- You have a mindset for high quality of work
- You pay attention to details and are able to work within tight deadlines in a demanding and competitive environment
