Stephanie Smets

Stéphanie Smets is an Audit Partner and Insurance Market Leader at KPMG Luxembourg, where she also leads the insurance audit practice. With over 20 years of experience, especially in the insurance sector, she audits a wide range of insurance companies and oversees audits of global accounts—both stand-alone and consolidated—under US GAAP, IFRS, and Lux GAAP for captive reinsurance companies. She helps companies enhance their financial reporting processes, supports internal audit functions in their planning, and advises on new regulatory requirements. Stéphanie is a member of the Insurance Commission at the Institut des Réviseurs d’Entreprises and oversees the insurance course for the preparation of the Examen d’Aptitude Professionelle.
