About the report
This is the 11th edition of the KPMG Survey of Sustainability Reporting. It offers a detailed look at global trends in sustainability reporting, with insights for business leaders, company boards and sustainability professionals.
The survey has tracked global trends in sustainability reporting since it was first published in 1993. The 2020 edition is the most extensive of the 11 editions and is based on a review of reporting from 5,200 companies in 52 different countries and jurisdictions. Key findings include:
- Key global trends in sustainability reporting including levels of reporting around the world.
- How leading companies are reporting on risks they face from the loss of biodiversity.
- The current state-of-play in reporting on climate-related risk and carbon reduction.
- How companies are addressing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in their sustainability reporting.
Sri Lanka was one among the number of countries that participated in this survey. The findings of this research enable us to measure Sri Lanka’s standing with regards to sustainability reporting against that of the other countries and allow us to draw from examples for the future.
The survey is based on research by sustainability professionals at KPMG firms who analyzed thousands of corporate reports and websites.
This research has been conducted by KPMG IMPACT, a newly-established initiative of KPMG firms. KPMG IMPACT brings together professionals and subject matter experts from across KPMG’s global organization to support the delivery of the United Nations SDGs.
