Dear readers,
Starting from 3 August 2024, changes in the issuance of temporary residence permits for foreigners and stateless persons in the Republic of Kazakhstan for entrepreneurial activities (business immigrants) will come into force. These changes involve additional requirements to the document package needed to obtain such a permit. The changes were made in accordance with Order No. 571 of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 19 July 2024 “On amendments to the Order of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 992 dated 4 December 2015 “On the approval of the rules for issuing permits for temporary and permanent residence in the Republic of Kazakhstan to foreigners and stateless persons”.
Previously, to obtain a temporary residence permit for business immigrants, the following documents were required:
- Application for a temporary residence permit;
- Identification document of a foreigner or stateless person;
- Copy of medical insurance (excluding citizens of EAEU countries);
- Notarized consent for the immigrant’s residence, if the foreigner or stateless person does not own the residence provided for their temporary stay;
- Certificate of fingerprinting;
- The document issued by the local executive body of the Republic of Kazakhstan (on entrepreneurship issues) in accordance with Article 40 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On migration of the population”.
Now, the list of necessary documents has been supplemented with the following items:
- Medical certificate form 028/u confirming the absence of diseases preventing work activities;
- Medical insurance covering primary health care and specialized medical care in emergency situations;
- Confirmation of the presence or absence of a criminal record and prohibition on engaging in entrepreneurial activities, issued by the competent authority of the country of citizenship and/or permanent residence based on a court decision.
These changes are aimed at strengthening control and security in the process of issuing temporary residence permits for business immigrants. The additional requirements help ensure compliance with established standards and minimize the risks associated with their stay and activities in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
