Dear Readers,
A decision1 of the Eurasian Economic Commission Council extended the validity of the increased cost threshold for duty-free imports of goods for personal use into the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.
The increased cost threshold of 1000 euros for duty-free imports of goods for personal use into the member-countries of the Eurasian Economic Union will be valid until 1 October 2023 for goods:
- Brought in accompanied and/or unaccompanied baggage by all types of transport, except air transport, or on foot;
- Delivered by a carrier;
- Sent in international postal shipments.
The weight thresholds for these shipments remained unchanged at 31 kg for goods delivered by a carrier or sent in international postal shipments, and 25 kg for goods brought in baggage.
After the end of the preferential period, the cost thresholds will return to the previous levels of 200 euros for goods transported by a carrier or in postal shipments, and 500 euros for goods imported in baggage by all types of transport except air transport, or on foot.
The decision enters into force on 11 April 2023 and applies to relationships that arise from 1 April 2023.
