Finance Committee approves Treasury Assistant Secretary for Tax Policy

U.S. Finance Committee approves nomination

The U.S. Senate Finance Committee today unanimously advanced the nomination of David J. Kautter to serve as the U.S. Treasury Assistant Secretary for Tax Policy. This action by the committee sends the nomination to the full U.S. Senate for a vote on his confirmation.

As noted in a statement from the Finance Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-UT):

“The Treasury Assistant Secretary for Tax Policy is a critical role as Congress and the administration work to overhaul the nation’s tax system….”

Kautter was nominated in early May 2017. It is not known when the Senate will hold a confirmation vote.
