China Cyber News Alert
An update of the latest developments surrounding China’s Cybersecurity Law in particular on the security requirements of overseas data transfer.
China’s Cybersecurity Law is scheduled to come into effect on 1 June 2017 and the authorities have moved to clarify several ambiguities surrounding the security requirements on overseas data transfer.
Issues that were previously unclear such as which organisations are required to be assessed and what is the scope of the assessment have now been cleared up by State Internet Information Office’s Measures for Carrying out Security Assessment on Personal Information and Important Data for Overseas Transfer, which was released on 11 April 2017.
