KPMG in the Cayman Islands

Jonny joined the ESG Advisory team at KPMG in the Cayman Islands in May of 2023. During this time in the ESG team, he has been a part of several engagements with a primary focus on ESG strategy development, ESG reporting and environmental monitoring. Jonny started his sustainability journey during University, culminating in the completion of his Master’s degree in Carbon Management in which he focused on the economics of climate change, low carbon investment and energy finance. Prior to joining KPMG, Jonny was a Senior Associate at PwC’s Audit Practice in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he completed his training to become a Chartered Accountant, concentrating primarily on non-financial and commercial clients.

Jonny’s recent experience includes

  • Assisting in an engagement focused on developing and implementing a first of its kind ESG strategy for a large regional container port, including foot printing of carbon emissions and a climate resiliency assessment. The project looks to pave the way for sustainable development in the region
  • Supporting a United Nations entity in the creation of a pioneering investment framework with a goal to have it implemented globally by asset managers to assist in effective impact investing.
  • Helping to create and deliver presentations used to educate key board members of large financial instructions in order for them to better understand the region specific ESG issues that are most relevant to their organization.
  • Undertaking analysis on behalf of a United Nations entity focused on the existence and availability climate finance from a global perspective and how this is being utilized by key beneficiaries.
  • Supporting the design and implementation of a bespoke ESG strategy for a large regional bank to help meet their short and long term goals.
  • Assisting in providing market research to highlight ESG opportunities in the region, as well as daily practical and technical operations.
