From 1 April 2022, Cambodia implemented the VAT on e-commerce transactions provided by non-residents who have no fixed business or permanent establishment in Cambodia. “E-commerce”, in this case, refers to the purchase, sale, rental, or exchange of goods or services, including online commercial activities.
This new VAT on e-commerce regulations also introduced the “reverse charge” mechanism applied to e-commerce transactions which are considered as Business to Business (B2B), which is an additional compliance obligation imposed on the VAT-registered customers in Cambodia. Meanwhile, non-resident e-commerce suppliers who meet the turn-over threshold are also required to register under the simplified VAT registration and comply with their VAT obligations in Cambodia.
This webinar is intended to provide an overview of the rules and guidelines provided under this new VAT e-commerce regulation, as well as the practical issues that taxpayers (i.e., both resident registered customers and non-resident suppliers) have to be aware of compliance obligations with this new regulation.
