「KPMG Origins」は、ブロックチェーンやIoT、データ分析ツールなどの先端技術を融合し、サプライチェーンのデータの可視化と履歴追跡を可能とするプラットフォームであり、国際取引で製品の流通経路全体の生産管理の信頼性を消費者に証明し、生産者や企業の競争力を向上させることを目的として開発されました。

このプラットフォームを導入することによって、消費者は商品の生産地や輸送状態などの履歴情報を最小流通単位で追跡することが可能となり、安心感を持って商品を購入することができます。また、生産者や企業は、正確で透明性の高い情報を提供することによって、サービスの差別化を図るとともに、偽物の販売を避けられるなど、消費者との信頼関係を構築し、売り上げの増進やブランド力向上を実現することができます。

従来の履歴追跡システムが集中型なのに対して、「KPMG Origins」は、ブロックチェーンを活かした分散型システムを用いることで、より信頼性の高い情報を担保しつつ運用負担の軽減を実現しています。

「KPMG Origins」は、オーストラリア、中国、日本の企業とパイロット実装を行った上で、本格的なリリースとなりました。実装には、オーストラリア・クイーンズランド州の主要サトウキビ生産者団体であるCANEGROWERS、オーストラリアの食品輸出最大手のひとつであるSunRice、世界をリードするリースリング生産者のMitchell Winesが参加しています。

KPMG Ignition Tokyo, Inc. (hereinafter “KIT,” Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Masayuki Chatani), a group company of KPMG Japan, developed “KPMG Origins” with KPMG member firms in Australia, China, and Japan, and launched the service in Japan.

“KPMG Origins” is a platform that integrates cutting-edge technologies such as blockchain, IoT and data analytics tools to enable visualization and track and trace of supply chain data. It was developed to demonstrate to consumers the reliability of production management throughout the product distribution channel in global trade, and to improve the competitiveness of suppliers and enterprises.

Implementation of this platform will enable consumers to trace the origins of products and track transportation with the smallest distribution unit, and to provide a reliable way to purchase products. In addition, suppliers and enterprises will be able to provide accurate and highly transparent information to differentiate their services, while also developing trusted relationships with consumers, such as by avoiding sales of imitations, to enhance their sales and brand power.

Compared with the traditional centralized tracing system, “KPMG Origins” uses a blockchain-based decentralized system to ensure more reliable information, while reducing the operational burden.

“KPMG Origins” was officially released after pilot implementations with clients across Australia, China, and Japan. Organizations participating in the pilot implementations included CANEGROWERS, the peak body for Queensland’s sugarcane growers organization, SunRice, one of the largest Australian food exporters, and Mitchell Wines, the world’s leading Riesling producer.
