Programme overview

The post graduate industry practitioner programme in artificial intelligence and deep learning aims to prepare experienced data science and IT professionals for a career in the high growth field of artificial intelligence and deep learning. It is a six month programme that provides a solid foundation in core concepts like modern data science, mathematics for artificial intelligence, machine intelligence and deep learning, followed by a hands-on experience of how these concepts are practically applied in various industries and functions. 

The programme is jointly delivered by Deakin University, Australia, a renowned global university, and by KPMG in India, a market leader in data science advisory services.

KPMG in India is the Industry Partner and Deakin University is the University Partner in the post graduate industry practitioner programme in artificial intelligence and deep learning.

The main objectives of the programme are as follows:

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the foundational concepts in business statistics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and deep learning
  • Build proficiency in key technologies, platforms, languages used in artificial intelligence and deep learning such as Python, and TensorFlow
  • Build a thorough understanding of and the ability to solve problems in practical industry-oriented use cases.

Who is this programme for?

Data science and IT professionals with 4 – 8 years of work experience, who want to build their skills or aspire to pursue a career in artificial intelligence and deep learning. 

Are there any eligibility criteria?

This programme is restricted to professionals with the following backgrounds:

  • Professionals with at least an undergraduate degree in computer science, information technology, statistics, mathematics with 4 or more years of industry experience
  • Professionals with an engineering degree in any discipline along with at least 4 years of software/data science/technology industry experience.

Key features of this programme:

Practitioner oriented: Taught by KPMG in India artificial intelligence and deep learning experts and by senior professors from Deakin, this programme is highly application driven.

An immersive 400-hour programme: Highly interactive online classes will be spread over 24 weeks.

Interactive “masterclasses”: Online classes will be held two days per week.

Assignments: Assignments, self-paced learning, peer-to-peer engagement, industry leader interactions, and coaching sessions to enable a rich learning experience.

Access to recorded sessions: Access to view the recorded sessions in case a learner is not able to attend.

  • Data manipulation: big data.

Module 2 – Mathematics for artificial intelligence

  • Vectors
  • Matrices
  • Probability 
  • Graph theory 
  • Multivariable calculus and optimisation.

Module 3 – Machine intelligence

  • Data analytics: Predictive analysis using regression models
  • Data analytics: Predictive analysis using classification models
  • Data analytics: Clustering analytics.

Module 4 – Deep learning

  • Introduction to deep learning 
  • Deep neural networks
  • Adversarial machine learning.

Programme structure and learning journey:

This programme is designed as a continuous learning journey that is highly application driven.

  • Instructor led sessions: Learners will go through highly interactive classes, lab exercises and self-learning hours. Sessions will be delivered over 24 weeks, these weekly sessions will be interspersed with assignments and reading material that learners will need to work on
  • Hands on exercises: Learners will have the opportunity to practice the skills learnt, through hands on assignments and lab exercises
  • Capstone project: Learners will have to complete a capstone project that encapsulates concepts and skills learnt
  • Personalised coaching: Learners will get personalised coaching from KPMG in India’s industry experts throughout the capstone project
  • Certification: Learners will have to complete an assessment at the end of each module and get the required marks to get the joint certification from KPMG in India and Deakin University, Australia.

Upon meeting all the programme completion requirements, a participant will get a “Post Graduate Industry Practitioner Certificate” provided jointly by Deakin University and KPMG in India.


The programme will be facilitated by senior professors from the department of computer science, Deakin University, and experts from KPMG in India, who specialise in data science, specifically artificial intelligence and deep learning.

Time investment

Learners need to commit to 12-14 hours of learning per week for the entire duration of the programme. Nearly 50 per cent of this learning will be through instructor led sessions and exercises and the remaining through self-reading and assignments.

Programme fees

The fees for the programme is INR 2,20,000 plus taxes (EMI options available from Eduvanz).
