With the outbreak of COVID-19, global supply chains were swiftly and effectively dismantled as one country after another went into lockdown. The crisis accentuated the reliance of businesses around the world on a few markets for fulfilling their manufacturing and sourcing requirements. Supply chain leaders are now reassessing many long-held assumptions around global production networks in light of new realities and trying to forecast what the future may bring. This means working with current supply chains to improve efficiency and security of supplies while also finding new suppliers and routes that allow diversification in times of crisis
