October 24, 2020 Ministry of Finance ITR filing The deadline for filing returns by individual taxpayers for FY 2019-20 has been extended by a month till December 31, the finance ministry said on Saturday.
For those taxpayers whose accounts need to be audited, the Income-Tax Return filing deadline has been extended by two months till January 31, 2021. The government had in May extended the date for filing ITR for FY2019-20 from July 31 to November 30, to give compliance relief to taxpayers.

High Court of Patna Functioning of High Court of Patna The Patna High Court has devised a new system of ‘Studio Court’ on an experimental basis, for the hearing of cases. Standard operating procedure for the same has been issued. Lawyers will be permitted inside the court premises however; the judges will hear the matters from their respective chambers via video conferencing and the lawyers shall appear from a separate courtroom.  Read here

With effect from 12.10.2020, two courts of Joint Registrars (Judicial) shall take up the matters through physical mode while the others shall continue to hold court through videoconferencing as per the roster to be notified on the official website. Directorate General of Civil Aviation Guidelines on refund of fares for cancelled flights The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued detailed guidelines by categorizing the refund seekers into three categories- (1) Passengers who booked tickers during lockdown for travel during lockdown i.e. March 25, 2020 – May 24, 2020; (2) Passengers who booked tickets prior to lockdown for travel till May 24, 2020; (3) For passengers who booked tickets for journeys after May 24, 2020, normal refund rules as per applicable civil aviation rules shall apply.  Read here

National Company Law Appellate Tribunal

Functioning of tribunal

The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) has suspended all its court works, including virtual hearing and filing, after some of its staff tested COVID-19 positive. Hence, as directed by acting chairperson, the court work (virtual hearing) and filing etc, in the NCLAT will remain suspended till October 6, 2020," said an NCLAT notification issued by the Registrar on October 4.

Presently, like other judicial/quasi-judicial bodies, the NCLAT is conducting virtual hearing through video conferencing, which was started during the lockdown.
