Data Privacy is an ever-changing field with constant developments in Ireland and all over the world. Keeping up with the different regulatory developments worldwide can be difficult. For this reason, the KPMG Ireland Data Privacy Team is launching a Quarterly Newsletter. Our aim is to make it easier for Data Privacy Teams and for DPOs to stay informed and know what to expect not only in Ireland but globally.

This newsletter is a summary of the most relevant regulatory updates since September 2021 to January 2022 in:

  • Ireland: you can find from DPC Insights to some of the most relevant publications;
  • European Union: we have outlined some of the key highlights from the EDPB, as well as some of the latest regulations to take into considerations such as the Digital Operational Resilience Act;
  • The UK: the ICO opened a consultation about SCCs during Q4 2021 and the UK Government published the National AI Strategy as well as the draft Online Safety Bill; and
  • On a global level, in this issue you can find updates on the new Data Protection laws launched by China, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, as well as the report about the draft Data Protection Bill in India.
