About the job
Successful candidates will play a significant role in offering a wide range of actuarial consultancy services in the insurance and financial services industry. The role involves:
- Performing actuarial audit for life insurance, general insurance, reinsurance clients, and pension business.
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to perform assessments, discuss the findings and prepare assessment reports.
- Contributing to IFRS 17 projects including assisting in financial impact assessments, performing actuarial modeling, and providing technical support.
- Participating in advisory engagements related to capital and risk management reviews, reserving and pricing reviews, mergers and acquisitions consulting, and pension valuation.
- Reviewing and building financial models including business planning/forecasting, corporate financing, and capital management.
- Supporting business development activities.
- Working closely with other colleagues in the insurance advisory practice.
- Mentoring and training of junior staff.
- Participating in various engagements related to IFRS 17 development, capital and risk management reviews, actuarial internal audit, reserving and pricing reviews, mergers and acquisitions consulting, and pension valuation.
- Contributing to new business proposals and presentations.
Desired skills & experience
- Seven to ten years of working experience in the insurance industry, global consulting firms or other big 4 firms preferably within the ASEAN market.
- Excellent academic background in fields related to Actuary, Mathematics or Statistics.
- Advanced proficiency in actuarial modeling (such as Prophet, AXIS, or RAFM) is a must.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as accuracy and attention to detail.
- Goal-driven, helping clients understand issues and resolve key questions; Ability to navigate through complexity and ambiguity, drive towards a desired outcome, and gain stakeholder support.
- Personal drive to deliver results within tight deadlines.
- Ability to assess technical information to distil the key strategic insights and convey these succinctly, clearly, and confidently verbally and in written form.
- Intellectual mobility, inquisitiveness, and an ability to work independently; Comfortable developing answers and solutions when the client’s requirements remain unclear or change.
- Have the ability to work independently and develop good relationships with senior management and partners.
- Confidence to balance business development and client delivery expectations.
- High proficiency in verbal and written English is essential.
- Flexibility to adapt to a variety of different engagement types, working hours, work environments and locations.
