KPMG has made a cooperation agreement with Maria 01 startup community. The startup community located at a former hospital campus is the largest startup community in the Nordic countries with its over 85 startups as its members. Within the community there are also numerous capital investors, angel investors, accelerators and other service providers. The cooperation agreement between KPMG and Maria 01 will provide the members of the community KPMG’s wide expert network, including both KPMG Finland and the international member firms.

— Maria 01 wants to offer its members access to a selected network of service providers. The requirements regarding good governance and M&A will become necessary for startups when the company grows and gains international funding. Besides services, we want to offer through KPMG a route to global business environment, Voitto Kangas, the CEO of Maria 01, explains.

— Besides audit and assurance, we act as the most trustworthy business partners for founders, capital investors, angel investors and startups in the fields of commercial law and both personal and company taxation from the foundation of the company to the internationalization, listing and exit. We also offer services regarding employee commitment and IP rights. Moreover, we offer large variety of advisory services from M&A and valuation to due diligence investigations and cyber security, explains Jussi Paski, the Head of Startup Services at KPMG Finland.

— We are very excited about the upcoming cooperation. At KPMG, we see the cooperation with Maria 01 as an important effort as the role of startups in our business and community is crucial. In our part, we want to put effort into the experimental culture that renews business thinking, advances development of new ideas and simultaneously builds the future of our clients and our company, Paski promises.

— I believe that the possibilities to influence are diverse and the old operating models should not be seen as limitations. Sharing the common experiences and networks is a crucial way of working and the solutions are sought at fast pace. From here it is good to start building the success and internationalization of both current and future startups, Paski states.
