Kärt joined KPMG in 2021. Kärt’s main areas of expertise are internal audit, investigations, background checks and risk consulting. Kärt has previously worked for 10 years in Estonian Competition Authority where she has been leading criminal and misdemeanour proceedings unit, which was specializing in investigating cases of cartels and abuse of dominant position offences. Kärt has successfully lead a number of high public profile, far-reaching cases by applying advanced analytics and surveillance to discover these hidden malpractices. She has been extensively trained by law enforcement agencies at home and abroad in interviewing, searches and digital forensics, including the delicate processes of establishing trust, recruitment and co-operating with anonymous human intelligence sources, for which she was trained by law enforcement partners in the UK. Kärt was coordinating co-operation involving Prosecutor Office and other domestic law enforcement agencies. Before working in Competition Authority Kärt was employed in Police Board as investigator of economic offences. Kärt is also well-versed in media sphere, which comes from her previous background as editor-in-chief of an industry-related journal and as investigative journalist at Äripäev, the leading Estonian business daily. This experience has given her broad insights into different layers of business and public sphere, unique skills working with human sources and abilities to express her point in both speaking and writing. Kärt’s knowledge of finance and economics comes from year-long CFO and book-keeping studies in Marketing Institute.
