The annual KPMG Promenade Relay 2023 took place on Douglas prom on Friday 7 July with circa 300 runners taking part in the event, raising funds in excess of £12,000 for Live at Home, KPMG’s chosen charity for 2023.

A beautiful evening and an amazing turnout resulted in a fantastic race, with 73 teams and 7 solo runners entering the event, representing a variety of businesses and groups across the island. This year’s event was opened by the Mayor, Natalie Byron-Teare, and all funds raised will benefit Live at Home, a Manx charity which aims to improve the quality of life and eliminate isolation and loneliness among the island’s elderly population. The charity also provides the elderly with reassurance that there is always someone they can turn to for help, advice, or simply a chat. The charity is passionate about providing lots of ways for members of the island’s elderly population to live happily at home for as long as they can.

Manx Wheelers & Ringers were the winning male team, completing the 10k race in 31:42, with the winning female team, Awesome Foursome, completing the 10k race in 39 mins and the winning mixed team, Runstrong Mixed, in 36.22. The winner in the solo 5k race was Lee Worsfold, who completed the race in 18.35.

Spot prizes were also awarded to the teams that placed 19th, 33rd and 45th and these teams were Isle Listen A team (#35), Nedbank Private Wealth (#65) and Much Better 1 (#38) respectively.

Justine Howard, Tax Associate Director and Corporate Social Responsibility committee chair at KPMG in the Crown Dependencies commented, “It was another fantastic day for the KPMG prom relay and so wonderful to see the promenade alive with runners and supporters of the event creating an amazing atmosphere. The event is always a key date on our charity calendar, which would not be possible without the support of the many people and businesses involved, including our sponsors, volunteers, marshals, St John Ambulance, Manx Radio, Event Management Solutions, Manx Timing Solutions and of course, all the runners who took part in the event!”.

Karen Winter, interim Chief Executive at Live at Home commented, “Live at Home was delighted to be chosen as KPMG’s chosen charity this year, we are enjoying working with such a wonderful supportive team who understand how loneliness and isolation can impact on the lives of people. KPMG’s Promenade Relay was attended by an amazing group of people who gave it everything they had! I also wanted to finally say a big thank you to all the sponsors and those behind the scenes”.

KPMG is extremely grateful for the support of, IFGL, Ocorian, Plan.com, SCS, Sleepwell Hotels, and Zedra for sponsoring this year’s event, as well as media partners Manx Radio and the KPMG staff involved in organising and marshalling the event.
