Two members of the KPMG audit team have been placed joint first in the ICAEW Order of Merit for the Isle of Man. Matthew Ogden and Vishal Patel beat the local competition to receive first position in the Isle of Man’s Order of Merit from the Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales (ICAEW) advanced level exams. Their awards were acknowledged at the recent Isle of Man Society of Chartered Accountants Annual Dinner.

The Order of Merit recognises those island students who have achieved the highest average results in their ICAEW exams to become an ACA qualified chartered accountant. The ACA is a highly-respected qualification that requires students to complete at least three years on-the-job training while passing a series of exams.

Commenting on the results, Nick Quayle, Audit Partner at KPMG in the Crown Dependencies said, “It is an amazing accomplishment for two of our team to be positioned at the top of the local results and we are very proud of their achievement. Matthew and Vishal will now both qualify as chartered accountants and I am delighted with their success.”

Reflecting on his studies, Matthew commented, “I am delighted to win the award and it is especially nice to share it with Vishal, who I have studied with throughout the past three years. I’m now looking forward to what the future brings as a qualified chartered accountant.”
