In a joint community initiative, KPMG in the Isle of Man teamed up with 3FM to plant a variety of trees at the Isle of Man Children’s Centre farm site. The tree planting event is the culmination of a ‘green-themed’ campaign held on 3FM, open to children to enter a daily competition to win their very own tree sapling and the opportunity to plant it, along with their family, on 24 April.

KPMG volunteers and the competition winners came together to plant trees at the family-friendly event at the Children’s Centre farm site, with each winner receiving and planting their fruit tree sapling to form a brand new orchard. Not only will the fruit trees help in the carbon emissions fight by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen, but the orchard will play host to a new beehive and help support the site’s local bee population.

The initiative is consistent with KPMG’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitment to be a net zero carbon organisation by 2030, holding the firm accountable for progress and making an even more positive impact on the Isle of Man and the wider world. This initiative, and other projects like it, is only the beginning of KPMG’s ESG strategy.

“It was a pleasure to see the competition winners and their families having fun and enjoying planting their own trees. We are particularly excited about the tree planting because it engages our people and local families in a hands-on project that supports our commitment to protecting and improving the environment and the communities in which we do business," said Kristan King, Partner at KPMG in the Isle of Man and Head of the firm’s CSR committee. "We look forward to our work having a positive, long-lasting impact on the local community”.
