Topics
Disruptive thinking – Surviving the next wave of cyber attacks
Are you ready for survival? What about the complex "new digital norm" in which numerous third parties are involved such as Cloud, APIs and solution providers?
“The cyber threat landscape is evolving” sounds like a very common - almost abused - message used by security practitioners to communicate the challenges of facing the latest threats. For some scenarios, and unfortunately the most dangerous ones, this is becoming the reality. We must consider attacks in the near future, which can be highly disruptive combined with the capability to spread at scale and at unprecedented rate across your business networks.
An awakening presentation to challenge the mind by questioning your readiness and awareness.
Aiming for continuous deployment and security
A look into how full automation and continuous deployment of both the application layer as well as the infrastructure layer, can facilitate the adoption of security best practices while minimizing the impact in business delivery. This will include a dive into how Kubernetes and containerization can help you achieve a fully homogenous infrastructure layer with security embedded, removing the diversity of different types of infrastructure found across Organizations.
In AI we Trust?
AI has made a tremendous progress as a field due to both the innovative research and technological advancement. This progress has been made primarily to what is called narrow AI meaning that AI can surpass human performance in very specific tasks, however various state of the art methods usually involve black box approaches, challenging trust and human acceptance. Continuous-learning algorithms also introduce a new set of cybersecurity considerations. Early adopters are still grappling with the magnitude of risks presented by these issues on the business. This talk will present the key challenges and considerations around the different aspects of trust in AI algorithms.
Cyber Security Gamification
Cyber Security professionals nowadays preach: “Invest in People”
Introducing Cyber Security gamification. A new concept which can provide cyber security teams with a playground to practice their skills, regardless of the technologies used. Explore how gamification can advance your cyber security capability by performing team building exercises that encourage cross function knowledge sharing during hands on challenges.
Bring it on Home
KPMG Cyber Security Congress 2019 is interactive.
• Post your questions in an open forum of security professional to initiate discussion and get the most out of this year’s KPMG Cyber Security Congress.
• Highlight the importance of these topics for the local market while getting input and discussing challenges faced across industries in Cyprus.
• Make your voice heard and see what others think.
Day 1 - Afternoon Session

Maritime Cyber Security
The maritime sector is on the verge of a digital disruption. But fast-moving changes do not come without risk. Industrial automation and control systems are increasingly being connected to corporate networks and the Internet. Individual devices across enterprise Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) networks will present potential new pathways to cyber attacks and incidents on your vessels
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) demands ship owners and managers to have incorporated cyber risk management into ship safety by 2021. Lack of security maturity and implementation of cyber security guidelines may lead to increased insurance process, port access denial and even detention of ships, meaning huge financial losses for their owners.
This event will focus on key cyber security matters within the maritime sector.
- Cyber Risk Management. KPMG will provide its insights in the use of a cyber risk management framework. We will explore what you need to do in the coming years to manage cyber risks.
- IMO Guidelines on Cyber Security Onboard ships. The IMO has recognized a need within the maritime sector to safeguard shipping from current and emerging threats and vulnerabilities related to automation of processes and systems. KPMG will touch upon the new legislations and its practical meaning.
- Looking Forward: Open Discussion. Technology will continue to change the functioning of ships and the maritime sector as a whole. We will finish off by exploring future technologies, and how these new technologies can be used to enable security.
