Are you in your final year of high school or first year of tertiary education and looking for a role to compliment your accounting studies?

The Junior Advisor Programme is an early career pathway to join our Private Enterprise team and become a Chartered Accountant. You'll study part-time and gain hands-on experience at one of the “Big 4” international accounting firms.

If you're passionate about fueling New Zealand's prosperity and making it a better place, becoming a Junior Advisor at KPMG could be the perfect fit for you. We seek talented individuals to join us on this journey, offering comprehensive training and support while encouraging you to explore a world of opportunities.

  • A permanent, full time role starting in April 2026, working at least 30 hours a week while completing your studies in accounting
  • Flexibility to use up to 7.5 hours of unpaid study leave per week to attend your accounting classes and paid study leave to prepare for exams and assessments
  • Pace your studies to achieve a good balance between work, academics, and social time, allowing you to take the time needed to fully grasp your coursework
  • The aim of the programme is for our team members to complete their accounting studies while they work and stay on with KPMG to progress to their Chartered Accounting qualification with us
  • This is real hands-on experience learning accounting in the real world, which will complement your studies
  • The opportunity to advance your career at a leading international firm
  • A paid position to support yourself whilst studying
  • Provided 4 hours of paid study leave per paper at the start of each semester
  • Our Private Enterprise team works alongside New Zealand’s privately-owned businesses to help them reach their goals. Your key responsibilities would include:
  • Helping prepare annual accounts and tax returns or handle monthly management tasks, focusing on smaller, simpler clients at first (like entering data, working on spreadsheets, and drafting accounts)
  • Answering client questions and helping the compliance team manage client relationships, particularly with taxes like income tax and GST
  • Attending training sessions to learn how to use professional accounting software
  • Assisting other team members with administrative tasks
