Responsibilities

  • Lead on ensuring the banking risk taxonomy and control library (RTCL) is appropriately structured, clearly articulated, and meets the regulatory requirements and business needs, and facilitate risk and control assessments (RCAs) across banking risks.
  • Agree and manage an RTCL plan with key stakeholders (CCOs/Functions, Financial and Non-Financial Risk Stewards) that delivers to the milestones agreed. Monitor and communicate progress against the plan and identify potential issues in advance so that necessary corrective action can be taken (incl. escalation as necessary).
  • Enhance, communicate and oversight of our NFR Framework and guidance documents that sets out governance, policies and practices to proactively identify, assess, measure and report on, mitigate and control operational risk exposures associated with our businesses and operations at all levels of the bank.
  • Develop and manage framework releases, including relevant training and communications to ensure the updates reach all our markets. Support the Policy & Framework team in other bau team activities including.
  • Whistleblowing investigations, and also the design and implementation of global initiatives such as operational resilience, regulatory requirements mapping, entity-level controls, etc.
  • Balance and mediate competing priorities from a wide variety of stakeholders in a changing environment. Whilst developing and maintaining good relationships with a broad range of senior stakeholders whilst also holding them to account. Analyse and resolve complex issues and escalations.
  • Role model for non-financial risk aligning with the bank’s strategy, behaviours and values.
  • Challenging and influencial -  to ensure how we manage and quantify our risk exposure and fully embed a strong risk management culture and behaviours is effective.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects our Brand.
  • The role has global responsibility covering all sites in which operates across all businesses.
  • Expert level of risk management knowledge and experience of working in a capacity that involves the management of risk for a large organisation.
  • Experience of designing and implementing policies and frameworks within a global organisation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the external environment (risk, regulatory, geopolitical, competitor etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to challenge practices and capabilities while maintaining a strong working relationship with the teams involved.
  • Effective management of time to work across multiple disciplines, time zones, etc. Sensitivity to Cultural diversity and ability to dynamically adapt interpersonal style to build effective relationships.
