Many online marketplace facilitators will have to file an annual information return for British Columbia provincial sales tax (PST) starting in 2023. British Columbia has updated its guidance on this new information return and the collection of PST on goods originating from outside Canada, among other details. Qualifying marketplace facilitators will be required to file their first information return for the period of July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023 by no later than August 31, 2023.

Online marketplace facilitators should ensure that their systems are updated to capture all the information required to file this new return, starting from July 1, 2022.
