Kevin O'Reilly

• Kevin specializes in loss reserve valuations, external audit assistance to assess the adequacy of loss reserves, peer review of insurance linked security (ILS) Fund fair value liabilities and the modelling and validation of complex finance models.
• Actuarial Lead for captive insurers and part of a firm-wide group to develop and execute a strategy to increase the firm’s presence and engagement within the Captive industry.
• Performed loss reserves valuations on property and casualty and health insurance for external clients. Supported and prepared the production of Loss Reserve Specialist Opinions for several clients including captives as well as commercial insurers and reinsurers.
• Provided external audit assistance to assess the adequacy of loss reserves on an IFRS, EBS, UK GAAP and US GAAP bases across several audit clients. This has covered runoff, ILS, Commercial and Personal business across a range of lines of business and geographies.
• Six-month secondment to the Bermuda Monetary Authority performing risk analysis on a portfolio of insurers and developing data analysis to form a risk prioritisation strategy.
• Managed several large clients simultaneously and acting as an engagement lead of large and complex actuarial engagements such as the due diligence of reserves of complex P&C transactions and their corresponding solvency impacts.
• Peer reviewed several insurance linked security Fund fair value liabilities and the modelling and validation of complex financial models.
• Seven-month secondment to a large Bermuda headquartered global P&C insurance group as a senior capital and risk actuary overseeing the preparation of GSSA and ORSA reports, validation of internal capital models and ad hoc capital projects.
• Led teams performing capital stress testing modelling and presented results to client board of directors.
• Responsible for oversight over an actuarial team of eight team members, including management of all actuarial training and accreditation matters. Wider firm responsibilities include performance management for several staff members and recruitment of new actuarial team members.

Prior to joining KPMG in Bermuda, Kevin was a Commercial Actuary at Allianz Insurance UK where his role included reserving, pricing, capital adequacy studies, regulatory compliance and planning across several lines of business.
