I am currently a second year student at the University of Edinburgh, studying Accounting and Finance. I plan to attain my ACA with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales following graduation. From a young age I enjoyed my math and business classes and quickly realised I wanted to pursue a career in this industry. I’ve always seen math as similar to a universal language that allows you to travel the world and connect with people of different cultures and backgrounds. Accounting attracted me specifically because many aspects feel similar to problem solving and puzzles, which keeps it interesting and engaging.

When I received the news that I was the recipient of the 2021 KPMG scholarship, I was in disbelief. I had always admired past recipients of the scholarship and hoped to be as driven and confident as they were. To know that the scholarship committee held me in that same regard gave me a large sense of pride and accomplishment. I feel such tremendous gratitude towards KPMG and the opportunities they have presented me to. I am incredibly excited to continue my career at KPMG and for the years to come.

This scholarship has allowed me to enter the accounting industry and further my learning in that area. I greatly value the internship opportunities associated with it and the ability to obtain first hand experience relating to many of the subjects I study, which assist me not only in my undergraduate degree but in attaining my accounting designation afterwards. Furthermore the sense of pride it conveys will provide additional motivation within my studies. The added support that KPMG gives me drives me to be successful and to fulfill my maximum potential.
