The insurance sector is undergoing major disruption – from the coverage of new risks, accelerated sector consolidation, and digitization of customer interactions, to the use of 'big data' and artificial intelligence and the arrival of 'on demand' services, digital distribution platforms, and autonomous vehicles, to name a few.

But to what extent will these disruptions revolutionize the insurance sector?

Three insurance CEOs share their vision about the future

The 19th edition of the DECAVI Insurance CEO Event welcomed three industry CEOs to lead an interactive discussion and share their personal vision: Christophe Hamal (Baloise), Koen Depaemelaere (Monument Assurance Belgium), and Frank Eijsink (NN Insurance Belgium).

The speakers discussed the following topics, which gave rise to interesting and impassioned debates:

  • The use of artificial intelligence and ChatGPT – beyond the technological advances brought by these new technologies, but also covering the importance of human relations and customer contact;
  • Inflation;
  • Insurers' distribution networks. The Belgian distribution model is holding steady, despite the predictions of the last 30 years;
  • Climate change, the aging population, and the societal role of policyholders. The social role of insurers is also of great importance in Belgium, through their mission to protect individuals and companies. The insurance industry helps maintain confidence in the future. Through their insurance products, they contribute to sustainable solutions for the various risks that citizens face.

We’re looking forward to the 20th edition next year!
